Day three in Africa - first day of our safari! We left Arusha by a 16 seater airplane that had to circle the airport (term being used loosly) due to wildebeests migrating on the dirt runway. Luckly one of Reggie's (our amazing guide) skills is to clear runways of wildebeests. On to our first safari in the northern Serengeti to the Mara River. Right away we saw hippos, crocs, elephants, giraffes, zebras, elands, topis, hartebeests, reedbucks, thompson gazelles, impalas, ostriches, hyenas, baboons, etc. Wildebeests migration was on hold at the Mara River due to the crocs but we did see wildebeests by the hundreds moving through the Serengeti. Tired and dusty we arrived at Buffaloe Springs Tented Luxury Camp. We were treated to beautiful accommodations, flowing wine, and hot water bottles greeted us under the covers in our chilly tents.
Day four in Africa - We started at 6 am and traveled throughout the northern Serengeti for an 11 hour Safari with two bathroom breaks which made Sue and Jackie very unhappy but our tires were in good shape. We saw lions, jackals, monkeys, gazelles, and more of the above, After an outside bonfire dinner and entertained by Masai Villagers and Erv, we embarked on our night time safari wrapped in blankets. We drove through grasslands and jungle to see the shining eyes of bushbabies, owls, elephant family including two babies, etc.
Day five in Africa - Again up at 5 and breakfast at 6. Of course we did a little shopping at 6 am before Erv fell over the spear of a Masai Warrior. The five of us will be sitting shiva in the central Serengeti. No flowers please send all donations to the Masai Reform Congregation. For obvious reasons we hasitly departed into the central Serengeti chased by men in long red robes and spears. We saw thousands of animals but the highlights were seeing a hard to find cheetah, a family of 19 giraffes, and a very good looking family of elephants. However, the most educational event was the shockingly brief ten second copulating lions. Arrived at our next destination which proved to be more lovely than the first. It has an infinity pool that overlooks the Serengeti with a waterhole where the animals gather. After a champagne dinner and no laughing we are going to sleep for another early rise.

glad you are having fun. we are in the jungle of new york. the only animals we saw were the crazy people in times square!
